I’m not even going to lie - I’ve been all over the place this last week.
We’ve been in lockdown for about three months now here in Sydney and I genuinely think it’s impossible not to get brain fog from it.
I go to start something, lose my train of thought. Go into the kitchen, forget what my name is. Go to the toilet; and usually work it out in the end, but you catch my drift. THINGS ARE GETTING STAGNANT.
HOWEVER, on a more positive note, I’d like to say a massive welcome to all our new email subscribers! This is my weekly brain dump into your inbox, where I catch you all up on Massive Orange Book happenings and things that have been ticking along. I love the process of it all, even if my brain is currently working at about 27% capacity.
One piece of advice for anyone who is working on a creative project, side hustle, or just doing something they want to be kept accountable for: having a newsletter is such a good way of creating structure to solo working, and keeping things moving in the right direction.
In the back of my mind, I’m like - well I can’t just sit on my arse and play Sims 4 because what will I write in the newsletter? I can’t start losing myself in a web of lies this early on. Life must go on!
The second thing I want to share this week is my interview with Balance the Grind! This was my first interview as Editor of Massive Orange Book so I’m really proud of it. It was so lovely to be on the other end of the questioning for once!
We spoke all about finding the perfect work/life balance and building a steady routine. Read my interview here!
Interview of the week (on MOB this time)
I’ve been so excited to share this one. My friend Fraser, who I actually met while doing a ski season in France, has recently launched a SICK sustainable clothing brand called NNEE, and I’ve been dying to share it on MOB. Read the full interview here.
Article of the week
Another piece of content that I’m excited to shout about this week is written by my best friend and Massive Orange Book’s Sustainability Contributor, Phoebe Hares. Read the article here. It talks about 6 ways we can all live more sustainably, and it’s that wholesome content you’ve been craving.
EDITORIAL REQUEST
I’m not actually doing an editorial request this week, because I’m playing catch up with some of the pieces I’ve been working on so I need to get on top of things before I ask for more!
One thing I would like to ask, is that you please tell a friend about Massive Orange Book this week, and ask them to follow on Instagram and subscribe to the newsletter! I’m quite happy with the rate in which things are slowly growing, considering the fact that I’m also working a full time in PR, but every little mention does truly help.
WATCHING
I’ve actually been really excited to recommend this one. The White Lotus. It is SUCH a good bedtime binge. I got hooked and watched three episodes in a row last night and I have no regrets but huge eye bags.
It’s a social satirical comedy/drama series that follows a group of different families, most of whom are total arseholes, who go to a beautiful resort in Hawaii. It was filmed entirely on location at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii, from Oct - Dec 2020. It really highlights how it’s often the people with the most, that are the least grateful and most obnoxious.
READING
I’m still finishing off a book I’ve already mentioned in the newsletter, so I thought I’d share an article from The Guardian that caught my attention.
Crunch time! 10 inspiring and unusual ways with cornflakes - from spicy upma to a tantalising tart
You are welcome.
LISTENING
I’m listening to Flex Mami’s new book on Audible this week. It actually comes free with an Audible subscription, so if you have it get it downloaded! I’m only 20 minutes in and I already love it so much. It’s called The Success Experiment.
That’s all folks. Do uz a favour and tell your bestie to subscribe to the newsletter!
